Editorials   NGenres.com - We're Back
- By Mike Schneider

If you’re reading this then you’ve perhaps noticed that for an extended period of time, going to any NGenres.com address brought up an error page. As much as a break from the site was nice and meant we could spend more time playing with our GameCube’s, NGenres was in fact the victim of a lot of circumstances beyond our control.

One day, way back when NGenres was a Nintendo website, the host of our server decided to shut the doors. Or something to that effect, since we made multiple efforts to contact them – including seven unanswered emails. Eventually, it became pretty clear that they had vanished off the face of the Earth, and our site went down with them.

So then, the hunt for a new host and server began, and when we found one that looked satisfying, we assumed the problems were over… However, when Tariq went to transfer the NGenres.com domain name to the new server, an old email address of his was registered under NGenres.com, so he couldn’t transfer it. It took five attempts of faxing some forms in with the necessary information, before everything was finally able to be transferred.

Following this is the task that we’re now faced with: Much of our old content is gone. In fact, anything that was uploaded after the date of October 3rd is gone. Some of it we have backed up within our own computers, some we don’t. However, regardless, it is going to be one gigantic catch up progress. Catching up in terms of reestablishing NGenres.com as a major Nintendo news and information source; catching up by simply redoing reviews, previews and other work that was lost; catching up in terms of covering the shakers of the last month or two within the industry – all while staying up-to-date with the news of the present time.

It is a game of catch-up that we’re going to be playing at NGenres.com, and our commitment to you – our devoted reader – that we will.
