Editorials   Retroid #2: Iron Sword!
- By Daniel Maraglio [Senior Editor]

Once in a long while. A commercial for a video game will be so amazing..so epic, that you must go out and buy that title right away. Iron Sword on the NES had just such a commercial.

Everything starts out like just another day for our Nintendo Champion. He has spent weeks
playing Wizards and Warriors, and with the help of his Acclaim wireless controller, he has just defeated the boss of the second stage. He screams with delight at his acheivment. Little does he know, his world is about to change!

Before he can even wipe the sweat from his forehead. A magical portal opens through the kids door and Kuros, the hero of Wizards and Warriors busts through as he finishes off a beast. Kuros also finds celebration is needed at this boys bravery.

But all is not well!!! Kuros tells his new friend that the threat of the Evil Wizard Malkil is still present. Luckily there is still hope. Kuros just happens to have a copy of Iron Sword for his NES.

Kuros explains that Malkil has taken forms of the four elements, earth, wind, water and
fire. The kid has already started playing and is pretty much already ignoring Kuros.

Kuros bids the child "FAREWELL!" and lets him know "THE FATE OF THE WORLD IS IN YOUR HANDS!" Then he begins his new battle in his own dimension while our young hero continues his on the

NES.

Wishing he would have stayed longer to wrestle with him. The kid runs to his door to tell Kuros to come back... But all he finds is his dog...who has obviously just farted.

It is a commercial like this, that sells games. By making it feel like you too can be visited by Kuros, you are compelled to purchase Iron Sword. With its incredible special effects and "Lord of the Rings" type of story telling, the Iron Sword commercial will be a saga remembered by all.
