News   Interesting Perfect Dark Theory
- Posted By Mike Schneider, 08.20.2001

For those who have achieved the ranking of Perfect in Perfect Dark, then you're all too familiar with the username and passwords the game gives you (the entropic decay / zero-tau).

Anyway, in a PD fansite's forum, I happened to stumble upon a theory pertaining to this all that is so out there, so wild, and yet so well-defined, that you have to read it for yourself:

i believe the password is clue/hint that there is still one more rank after 1: perfect. now the fun part, try not to get lost, i might though.

first off the name Perfect Dark (the two most annoying simulants in game Perfectsim and Darksim are in the title...besides being the code name for Jo) the sims are ranked/skilled so that Perfectsim is beneath Darksim...so i was looking at the ranks and realized that
3:invincible(invincible by definiton) is actually a better title then 1: perfect or 2:near perfect...it's like yeah you can be perfect but your not invincible...see what im saying?????(also in numerology 3 is the first perfect number)

so anyways rank 1 perfect is the equivalant to that of a Perfectsim....following???? and theres something above a Perfectsim, the Darksim....when you achieve the rank of perfection you recieve a code or 2 well actually a user-name and password but....(here it comes)....Zero-Tau which in laymens terms means suspended animation...but lets go into the realms of quantaum physics and philosophy, shall we?

Zero- is the state of nothingness and in a state of nothingness there would only be a dark void, no light,thought, or will of anykind would exist. so in a sense
zero=dark i.e a rank of 0: Dark

Entropic-decay: now i remember in chemistry going over entropy and enthropy. (complex thermo-dynamics coming up but im not going into too much detail)

entropy: the degree of disorder in a systerm : an ultimate state of inert uniformity.

Enthropy: okay i forget this one exactly, but its a term used in Thermo-dynamics to describe movement and characteristics of heat....which would be in a sense the exact antithesis of -450 degrees Celsius, aka O degress Kelvin, aka Absolute Zero the state in which everything stands still even molecules and atoms, which=suspended animation....does any body get what i saying here????????

entropic-decay: means a system of order that falls apart or in a state of decay..which would be the exact opposite of

Zero-tau: state of suspended animation(what ever order exists would stay the same). see its a duality or dichotomy

Zer0-tau vs. Entropic-decay. which would equal nothing i.e 0: dark, so what think is theres a numerical limit in the statsistics that resets everything back to zero and when this occurs your rank would be 0: dark

So there you have it. Is there a ranking of "0: Dark" in Perfect Dark? Who knows... But wasn't that fun to read anyway? Thanks to DarkSim master aka yo mama9000 of the Perfect-Darkness forums.
