In a recent interview with Core Magazine, Shinji Mikami, the director of the Resident Evil games, discussed (albeit briefly) Resident Evil (Biohazard in Japan) 0 and 4, which had previously been in the works for the PS2.
About Resident Evil 0:
"Well, I can tell you the game begins on a train. There will be plenty of interaction with the background including objects on tables such as wine bottles and breakable windows, thanks in part to the capabilities of the GameCube. The themes of the game are very similar to previous installments in the game. "
About Resident Evil 4:
"It was completely scrapped and development was moved to the GameCube. I've been in continued contact with the division working on Biohazard 4, and all I can say is, it will be quite good."
About why he chose to keep the series on GameCube only:
"It's very powerful and easy in terms of software development. The one thing I want people to know is, we haven't necessarily received money from Nintendo for deciding to make the Biohazard series exclusive to GameCube. More importantly, we believe the GameCube is a machine which will definitely have a five-year life cycle, if not longer. So it will provide the stability needed for the future of the Biohazard series. "
