News   Ubi Soft Announces Cel-Shaded FPS for GameCube
- Posted By Ryan Eid, 03.15.2002

Ubi Soft has reportedly begun development on a cel-shaded first-person shooter, titled XIII, which is based off the comic book series of the same name. The game is being developed for all three major platforms and is due out early next year sometime.

"We are constantly striving to push the gaming envelope, and XIII will create a world so unique and enthralling that gamers will become instantly engaged," stated Ubi Soft's president, Laurent Detoc. "From the revolutionary first-person cel-shaded animation, Unreal technology, and unique storyline, XIII reaches limits of interactive gameplay never experienced before."

The graphical style makes sense for this type of game, seeing as it is based around a comic book (i.e. cartoon drawings). The game will include stealth and action-oriented gameplay styles, and a four-player multiplayer mode is to be expected as well. May be a game to keep an eye on in early 2003.
