News   SpyHunter Movie Forthcoming
- Posted By Mike Schneider, 07.25.2002

Do you smell what the rock is cooking?

Prepare to laugh: A lead role as a spy.

Universal Studios has committed a very fine fallacy by not only buying out the movie rights for Midway's SpyHunter franchise, but for also signing WWE's "The Rock" as their lead.

What's even more remarkable is two other unnamed movie development studios were involved in a bidding war for the rights to SpyHunter.

Apparently everyone involved is oblivious to the facts that:
A) SpyHunter is not that big of a videogame franchise and has not sold that well on any of the three consoles its 3D upgrade was recently released for.
B) The storyline in SpyHunter is not exactly plot material for a full length flick.

We'll leave you with this laugher:

"We're going to draw from the spirit of the next-generation game, but tailor the game to the Rock and his unique personality", co-producer Chuck Gordon proclaimed. "We'll bring the Interceptor car and all the cool vehicles and spy gadgets from the game to the big screen in a $100 million movie."

Everybody loses but Midway.
