News   The World Is Not Enough Interview - Page Two

N64 Shooters
: What's your plan with bots for multiplayer?
Albert
: What do you want to do? Do you want to play 1 player against 3 bots, we've got it. You want to play 2 people versus 2 bots, you can do it. 1 player versus 1 bot, sure.

From Left to Right: Andrew, Albert, Tariq, Mike.

N64 Shooters: If you had 4 players, could you still have bots?
Albert: Yep.

N64 Shooters
: How many?
Albert
: I don't know what the final count is going to be, it is going to be dictated probably by framerate, we want to keep the game fast.

N64 Shooters
: What are you hoping for?
Albert: Well, right now, the game is running over 30 frames, so we're trying to keep at least 30 frames per second. We will use as many bots as long as the game is moving steadily. I've seen at least a dozen guys on screen before there's slowdown. I have a screenshot of 12 guys charging at me, and there was just a hint of slowdown when everybody started firing. I've never seen that many guys on a screen at one time. The other thing that is kind of cool is the inertia behind the shots, so depending on what they're doing, and the caliber of the weapon I'm using, it will effect like, how they have hit contact.

As I go along here, see this guy disappearing [Albert was going through the level], he was just in a fire fight. This all happens real time, so I've seen these guys be in fire fights. I've seen a guy shoot through a window right before it closes, depending on how quickly I get through the level.

Also, kind of keeping with Bond, civilians will be working; if civilians die, either by you killing them, accidentally or on purpose, it's a mission failure. So we work really closely with MGM and Danjaq on the role of James Bond, and they really want us to make this kind of, a little closer to the movies, so they're really specific about cutting things that James Bond wouldn't do. So they basically said, "look, if James Bond kills a civilian, it doesn't matter whether he did it on accident or on purpose, he'd be put out of commission. So if he kills a civilian in the game, the mission is over. So they've held us pretty true to the Bond world.
If you account for the deaths of any civilians, the mission is failed.

N64 Shooters
: How does the Bond license work? Do you have a bunch of different old Bonds in the multiplayer?
Albert
: We have the rights to all the characters, from all the Bond movies, so it doesn't...well I'm not going to say for sure that we're going to have all the old characters in multiplayer, but we sure hope to.

So this mission is sort of dynamically changing [we're back to Albert showing more from the game during the interview], actually, I have to go rescue M; if I had been playing this on the agent mode, the easy level, this part of the level wouldn't have happened. I'm playing on 007 mode right now, so, I now have to go rescue M, I have to do that in a certain amount of time.

N64 Shooters
: So, you have 3 different difficulties you have to beat?
Albert: Yes, there is 3 different difficulty levels.

N64 Shooters
: Is there cheats in the game that you can unlock?Albert:Ya, what those are going to be it's too early right now.
