Preview Dragon Ball Z: Budokai
- By Daniel Maraglio [Senior Editor]
The popular Dragon Ball Z: Budokai is coming to the Nintendo Gamecube! Now Gamecube owners can also enjoy the latest and best Dragon Ball game with an added bonus. DBZ: Budokai will be nearly identical to its playstation 2 counterpart with the exception of a graphical upgrade, creating more detail and removes some of the distortion.
For those not familiar with Dragon Ball Z: Budokai, it is a 3-d fighter based on the famous animated DBZ world created by Akira Toriyama. It is held highly as the best Dragon Ball Z game to date, as well as a deep fighting game with an incredible story line with plenty of characters, combos, modes and action.
Five modes are available in Budokai. The story Mode takes players through the Saiyan Saga to the Cell games and recreates all the epic battles in between. The duel mode lets players choose from 23 fighters of the series and pit them against each other. The fighting of the game is much deeper when compared to most of the other Dragon Ball games, with characters able to attack with 60 combo moves. Theres a highly customizable practice mode, so you can hone your skills on specific attacks and techniques. Tournament mode is an elimination mode that has three difficulty settings, unlocked by completing the tournament. After the final difficulty is completed, the fifth and final mode is unlocked. The legend of Hercule is a sort of bonus story mode following Hercule on his more humorous adventures and battles.
One of the games best features is its customizable characters. During story and tournament mode, money is earned and can be used to purchase special capsules. By using these capsules, players can give special abilities to characters like powered up attacks and being able to transform. The capsules can also be traded with other players.
With the improved graphics and all the features that made the original such a hit. Dragon Ball Z and Gamecube fans have alot to look forward to this September.
