Preview  Star Wars: Episode One: Jedi Power Battles
- By David Faber [Associate Editor]

The first of what will obviously become a slew of Star Wars games is on the verge of release for GameBoy Advance. Star Wars: Episode One: Jedi Power Battles is being developed by THQ and HotGen, companies known for their previous Star Wars games on the GameBoy Color, as well as other platforms.

Players will battle through 10 levels of Star Wars goodness, using the force, lightsabers, and various pickups against the evil Trade Federation and Darth Maul. The three playable characters include Obi-Wan Kenobi, Qui-Gon Jinn, and, oddly enough, Mace Windu. One feature that will probably lend itself to the title, and make it stand out, is the ability to learn new special attacks, other than that, it looks like the typical action/adventure game. The overhead view looks to be well ochestrated, along with having fairly sharp looking graphics featuring a nice, bright color palette.

Word is that Jedi Power Battles will feature a multiplayer system, but THQ hasn't announced yet whether it will require 2 cartriges or not.
