Preview  Mega Man Zero
- By Francis Bonnet [Head Graphics]

Mega Man Zero is the newest spin-off of Capcom’s popular series staring the Blue Bomber. If you’ve bothered to follow the story line of the Mega Man games, the original series and the X series take place 100 years apart from each other. According to reports leaking out of Capcom, Mega Man Zero takes place yet another 100 years later, this time in the year 22XX.

During this time of calm, stories are told about how Mega Man X had defeated the Maverick virus that had plagued the world 100 years prior to the events in Mega Man Zero. Because of this, there remain very few Reploids (robots) left in the world and humans are finally beginning to retake control of society. However, with human control also comes a corrupt government organization known as Neo Arcadia. Neo Arcadia’s primary goal is to eliminate all remaining Reploids. Zero, a legendary Maverick Hunter who had been sealed away in a capsule for 100 years following the events in Mega Man X6, has been awakened to stop Neo Arcadia from eliminating the last remaining Reploids on Earth. What’s known is that you play the entire game as Zero and NOT as Mega Man. So the question remains… what exactly happened to Mega Man X?

If you notice the screen shots and character art [note: glitch in our program isn't allowing uploading at the present, this will change as we work through our relaunch], Zero looks slightly different than he did in the X series. It is unknown at this time if there are other returning characters, but I’m sure Capcom will take their sweet time answering any of the mysteries that Mega Man Zero may raise (we’re still wondering what exactly happened between the original series and the X series). Let’s hope that Mega Man’s classic gameplay transfers to the small screen without much trouble; Mega Man games are known for heavy action and require quick reflexes. The tentative release date is sometime this summer, but as always, that date is subject to change.
